This program focuses on assets and strengths, emphasizing what the community does or does not have. Those assets and strengths can be used to meet those same community needs which can improve community life. To draw upon a community’s assets, we first have to identify those assets. The “North Lawndale Community Committee” program is divided into the Youth Committee Meetings and the North Lawndale Community Committee Meetings.
Benefits to Participating:
Adult Committee Meetings held on the last Thursday of each quarter (March, June, September, & December) from 5;30 pm - 6:30 pm.
A group of community stakeholders (residents, parents, youth, business owners, local politicians, law enforcement, and clergymen) meet collectively to strategize and plan activities to enhance the neighborhood.
Youth Committee Meetings held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month in the summer from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The youth committee meetings consist of several sectors, youth ages 11 years old & up, parents, residents, local business owners, law enforcement, clergy, and politicians. The goal is to have a well-rounded committee and to encourage involvement from everyone that is a part of the community.
