Roll Call is a 501c3 grassroots organization that emerged from Chicago in 2006 to address unemployment, family alienation, and the various issues that offenders face in reentering the community when released from prison.
Roll Call was founded in 2006 where it took inspiration from a former organization called “Brotherhood” which was started by the executive director, Milton Golden, and other inmates while they were incarcerated. The goal of this former organization is to promote unity and positive change while incarcerated in hopes of changing one’s mindset before release; the Executive Director wanted Roll Call to share similar values. Through Roll Call, Mr. Golden was able to partner with like-minded organizations to "empower the ex offenders in order to prevent the next offenders".
